FIELD: powder metallurgy, in particular, production of granulated magnesium and its alloys. SUBSTANCE: method includes preparation of melt of magnesium or its alloy with salt mixture and introduction into melt of dispersing agent in the form of silicon oxide in the course of agitation at preset rate of less than 15 g per kg of salt mixture per minute and in the amount determined by the relation given in the invention description, to provide for attainment of magnesium-salt mixture ratio in melt in the amount of 0.5-9.0. EFFECT: production of granules of stable composition, increased efficiency of production of granules of magnesium and its alloys due to accelerated dispersion stage of magnesium and exclusion of stage of separation by screening of metal and salt components. 1 tbl
