FIELD: textile industry. SUBSTANCE: modified flax fiber is manufactured from shortened split fibers of 15-45 mm length used in an amount of at least 50 wt%, or of 20-90 mm length used in an amount of at least 50 wt%. Weight part of fibers having length of up to 15 mm does not exceed 10 wt%. Fineness of shortened split fibers is determined by dependence: F ≅ 0,38L0,65, where F is fineness of shortened split fibers, mm; L is length of shortened split fibers, mm. Modified flax fibers are manufactured from flax industry wastes, which are processed on highly-efficient cotton, wool and batting combing equipment. Modified flax fiber is made coarse, boiled, bleached, even colored and parti-colored. EFFECT: wider operational capabilities and wider range of flax fibers. 2 cl
