FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: mechanism has transporting rack, pressure grip and needle plate. Transporting rack is mounted for reciprocation in horizontal plane in needle plate slot. Needle plate is mounted for reciprocation in vertical plane along guide, which is positioned for turning along immovable circular guide so that it may be fixed on it in predetermined position and kinematically connected to device for turning and fixing of guide providing reciprocating motion of needle plate in vertical plane along circular guide. Mechanism is used in equipment for connecting (assembling) of parts of fabric or like materials by threads. Mechanism allows such operations as fitting of fabric lower layer and tightening of upper and lower layers to be avoided (it is important in sewing of materials containing chemical/synthetic fibers and threads at increased speeds exceeding 2,500 rev/min). EFFECT: wider operational capabilities of rack mechanism for transportation of semifinished article by providing formation of folds (creases) in the process of sewing fabric, and increased efficiency. 2 dwg
