FIELD: ammunition, in particular, projectiles, jet projectiles or mines with a high-explosive warhead having an envelope with cuts for uniform crushing into fragments. SUBSTANCE: a rhombic profile is made on the internal surface of the fragmentation ammunition by application of a net of riffles, the method consists in successive operations of envelope plastic metal working in a cold state, forcing of a tubular blank through two dies of different diameters with reduction in cross-sectional area, the blank is preliminarily installed on uniformly arranged helical projections of the central tool core having an opposite direction, a piece tubular blank of the envelope is fed to the dies without any axial displacement relative to the helical projections with formation of a minimum clearance between the envelope internal surface and the central tool core, riffles with a depth of 0.25 to 0.55 of the thickness of the tubular blank wall are formed.
