FIELD: methods of production of aromatic carboxylic acids. SUBSTANCE: method is realized by exothermic liquid-phase reaction of oxidation of respective alkylaromatic initial compound in liquid-phase reaction mixture consisting of water, low-molecular monocarboxylic acid as solvent, oxidation catalyst based on heavy metal and source of molecular oxygen. Reaction conditions lead to production of gaseous high-pressure exit flow containing water, gaseous byproducts and gaseous low-molecular monocarboxylic acid with subsequent driving off of aromatic carboxylic acid and separation of high-pressure exit flow. In this case, high-pressure exit flow is directed to highly efficient distilling tower for removal of, at least, 95 wt.% of low-molecular monocarboxylic acid from exit flow and formation of the second high-pressure exit flow containing water and gaseous byproducts formed in course of oxidation. Then, the second high-pressure exit flow is directed to means for energy liberation from this flow. Plant for production of aromatic acids by exothermic liquid-phase oxidation of alkylaromatic compound in reaction mixture containing acetic acid as solvent, water, gaseous products and gaseous acetic acid, includes reaction vessel suitable for oxidation, highly efficient distilling tower, means for direction of gaseous exit flow, means for removal of combustible substances from vapor, means for liberation of energy from vapor outgoing from distilling tower after removal of combustible substances from it. EFFECT: improved method of production. 17 cl, 1 dwg
