SUBSTANCE: described is method of preparing 2- (phenylamino) phenylacetic acid derivative comprising chloroacetylation of substituted diphenylamine with cloroacetyl chloride, intramolecular cyclization of the resulting N- chloroactyldiphenyl amine, hydrolysis of phenylidolin-2-one, ioslation of the corresponding 2- (phenylamino)phenylacetic acid, esterification and reaction with amines. When chloroacetylation is carried out, amount of chloroacetyl chloride does not exceed 5 moles per 1 mole of diphenylamine; after hydrolysis in aqueous alcoholic medium intermediate isolation of salt of 2- (phenylamino)phenylacetic acid derivative is carried out and mixture of miscible-and water-immisible solvents is thereafter used.
