METHOD OF PRODUCING DRY SPINNING SHORT LINEN YARN Russian patent published in 2001 - IPC

Abstract RU 2173739 C1

FIELD: textile industry. SUBSTANCE: method involves preliminary combing mixture of short linen fibers; parallelizing fibers and forming fibrous sliver roll; providing double combing of linen fibers in combing machines; thinning and leveling fibrous sliver in sliver forming machines for several passes; forming bobbin for spinning machine at sliver forming machine outlet end; performing final thinning of sliver from bobbin in spinning machine; twisting fibers and simultaneously winding yarn produced. During linen fiber twisting, thread of natural or chemical filaments with linear density of 18.5-29.0 tex is fed to yarn formation zone. This thread forms enclosure, which winds twisted linen fibers making core. Ready yarn has linear density of 167-100 tex, and contains following components, wt.%: thread of natural or chemical filaments (enclosure) 7.0-11.0; linen fibers (core) the remainder. At time intervals between processing in combing machines, fibrous slivers are treated with live steam at temperature of 100-130 C under pressure of at least 2.0 kgf/sq.cm for at least 2 hours, with following softening to residual moisture content of 12-16%. Cotton fibers, polyester filaments, viscose filaments or polyamide filaments are used as threads. Method allows yarn to be produced from short linen fibers of higher count (6-10), from short linen fiber of third and/or fourth count. Yarn produced has uniform density, tearing strength lower by 50% as compared to this parameter of known yarn and improved spinning processability. Such yarn may be used for producing woven material for manufacture of domestic and technical articles, such as tarpaulin or duck fabric. EFFECT: increased efficiency, improved quality of yarn and wider range of articles produced from such yarn. 2 cl, 3 dwg
