FIELD: construction engineering; testing small diameter piles whose stability reduces under longitudinal thrusts. SUBSTANCE: method involves gradual loading of piles by vertical pressure and measurement of settings by means of measuring devices. Novelty is that displacements perpendicular to pile axis and angles of turn of pile top part are prevented by displacement limiter. Device for static test of piles has hydraulic jack, fixture joined to anchors and used for stopping the jack, and measuring devices. Novelty is introduction of displacement stop fixed in position relative to ground and installed in top part of pile.
