FIELD: construction engineering; repair of pipelines; tight closing of hole formed in gas discharge branch pipe under pressure. SUBSTANCE: blank includes plug with round section and axial hole; two circular grooves are provided over external diameter; one groove is used for receiving elastic sealing ring. Axial hole in plug is blind and is provided with a thread. Located additionally above elastic sealing ring is pressure split ring. Unit for mounting the blank on object has body where central load-bearing rod is coaxially located; it also includes drive for translational motion of rod. Body is provided with retainer limiting the translational motion load-beating rod to extreme lower position. Load-bearing rod is tubular in section; threaded upper part has larger outer diameter. Lower butt end of rod is provided with threaded fastener. Rod translational motion drive is made in the form of screw-nut pair. Blank is placed on unit for mounting it and said unit is mounted on gas line branch pipe; then plug of blank is fixed and branch pipe is sealed up by securing the circular segments in groove of plug.
