FIELD: inorganic compounds technology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of silica involving autoclave leaching of bauxite. Process consists in continuously pumping bauxite pulp through autoclave installation, said pulp being preheated in preheaters and finally heated in autoclaves to reaction temperature by steam from heat-and-power plant. Steam energy is also used in pump unit. Exhausted steam is withdrawn from cylinders of pump unit and conveyed to pulp preheaters. Pulp gets into pulp unit cylinders and is displaced therefrom through valve box, whereas steam is fed into the same cylinders and is withdrawn therefrom through distributing mechanisms. Cylinders are provided with floats for their longitudinal movement. EFFECT: increased economical efficiency of process. 3 cl, 2 dwg
