FIELD: mechanical engineering; free-piston engine-generator sets. SUBSTANCE: power- generating heat engine incorporating 40 to 80 kW power modules has two-cycle free-piston internal-combustion engine provided with stepwise reciprocating four-piston group with pistons rigidly coupled by means of rod. Two external pistons form engine combustion chamber with cylinder heads and fuel injectors; two internal pistons form compression spaces in crankcase. Power generator and turbine built integral to form single structure are mounted in center of crankcase space; turbine has radial ducts conveying lubricant to supporting bearings. Compressor pistons force air within crankcase space and set turbine in unidirectional rotary motion to drive generator rotor and at the same time to convey generated electricity to user. Compressor pistons carry permanent magnets that form, together with stator windings, linear generators and engine starting devices. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of power modules. 3 cl, 1 dwg
