FIELD: metallurgy, more particularly melt with reducing gases in electric furnace. SUBSTANCE: reducing gases are fed to electrode zone at certain intensity. Intensity is maintained within 350-700 kv/sq.m, and gas is fed into zone not further than 2.5 diameter of electrode % depth from HCl to HCl + 0.5 Del wherein D is diameter of electrode and HCl is deepening of electrode into slag. Optimum carbon content in reducing gas is 0.4-0.6 kg/n cubic m. Method makes it possible to reduce energy consumption and to prepare slags having lower content of nonferrous and noble metals.
