OVERSTITCHING-STITCHING ATTACHMENT Russian patent published in 2001 - IPC

FIELD: sewing industry. SUBSTANCE: overstitching-stitching attachment adapted to be joined to shuttle stitching sewing machine has casing equipped with device for fixing it to lug holder and thread guide with needle for providing adjustment according to machine type. Attachment is further provided with rotary kicker having upper stitching thread and thread holder, fabric supporting guide, thread guides and device for adjusting the balance of stitching thread tightening extent. Kicker and thread holder are driven for displacement in horizontal plane by eccentric. Attachment is further equipped with thread lifter for lifting stitching thread above kicker so that thread lifter is turned on thread guide shaft, when thread guide is lowered onto plate for insertion of thread guide into zone between rest and needle plate. To provide for alternative sewing of stitching threads into basic stitch of machine by needle piercing during downward displacement of needle it catches upper stitching thread. When needle repeatedly moves downward, it catches lower stitching thread. When needle moves upward, thread lifter raises lower thread above kicker, the latter passes under lower raised stitching thread, and lower and upper stitching threads are interlaced.
