PIPE CUTTER Russian patent published in 2001 - IPC

FIELD: oil and gas production, correction of seizure in wells by way of transverse cutting of pipes. SUBSTANCE: simple and effective technical approach advantageously distinguishes pipe cutter from cumulative and chemical pipe cutters. Problem of reliability and serviceability of gas dynamic pipe cutter in wide range of hydrostatic pressures is also solved. Given pipe cutter has chamber of gas generator. Streamlined surfaces of internal and external refractory nozzles form in solid-fuel gas generator with circular nozzle unit narrowing ring conduit turning through 90 degrees with regard to longitudinal axis of nozzle unit and terminating with radial slit. Perforated bearing fusible ring with bevel internal cut is positioned between walls of slit flush with outer diameter of nozzles. Elastic sealing collar with metal tape backing lap-wound encircles joints of nozzles with bearing ring from outside. High-temperature combustion products of solid fuel contains condensed phase. Streamlined surfaces of internal and external nozzles are made of refractory material. EFFECT: raised quality of cutting and diminished expenses for cutting pipes in wells. 2 dwg
