SUBSTANCE: gas is brought into contact with a reducing gas in presence of hydrogenation catalyst, which includes at least one component containing VIB or VIII group metal on carrier including amorphous aluminosilicate. At least part of primarily treated gas is brought into contact with a hydrolysis catalyst capable of catalyzing carbon sulfidoxide hydrolysis to form hydrogen sulfide, which is removed from gas to further reduce sulfur level in the latter.
