FIELD: metallurgy, namely, rolled stock production, possibly manufacture of sheets and plates of aluminium alloys. SUBSTANCE: ingot has flat wide faces 1 and convex narrow faces. Novelty is cross section of narrow faces in the form of bilateral cylindrical portions 2 with radius R1 joined with mean flat portion 3 and along radius R2 joined with wide faces 1. Joining radius of cylindrical portions with wide faces consists 0.13-0.16 of ingot thickness. Height of mean flat portion consists 0.3-0.4 of radius of cylindrical portion. Such ingot provides reduced crop along edges at making regular-form rolled pieces. EFFECT: less loss of yield due to reduced quantity of crop, enhanced quality of rolled stock. 2 dwg
