FIELD: shipbuilding; repair of ships. SUBSTANCE: first weld surface is cleaned and geometric parameters of its section are changed. Process of weld surface and weld adjacent zone surface cleaning is combined with plastic deformation of noncorroded metal of weld and weld adjacent zone. For this purpose impact tool is used with energy of impact exceeding energy level sufficient for surface plastic deformation of most strong metal of treated surface. Fillets are made in zone of contact of weld and main metal on section affected by corrosion. For this purpose said sections are subjected to plastic deformation. Radius of fillet is set by formula taking into account height of weld, width of weld, thickness of metal to be welded, and stress concentration factor of noncorroded weld. EFFECT: provision of restoration of strength characteristics of weld without additional surfacing operations, increased corrosion resistance. 1 ex, 2 dwg
