FIELD: pharmaceutics. SUBSTANCE: crude birch tar is poured into distillation vessel to no more than 50% filling and the latter is heated through walls. Distillation of tar is carried out within a temperature range of 87-350 C. Average heating rate does not exceed 0.7 C/min between 87 and 230 C and 1 C/vby between 230 and 350 C. Temperature of decomposition products is controlled in at least two points. Finally, decomposition products are cooled and separated. EFFECT: increased yield of desired product.
