FIELD: adsorbent in preparing activated anthracite for municipal and industrial water supply system. SUBSTANCE: method comprises activation with steam in fluidized bed for 40-60 min, followed by treatment with 3-5 % solution of ammonium bifluoride in 5% hydrochloric acid for 30-40 min, washing with water and drying. The resulting anthracite has adsorption iodine capacity of 87-2%, total pore volume of 0.4 g cubic cm/g, strength of 80.6% , ash content of 1.60 %. EFFECT: more efficient preparation method. 1 tbl
