FIELD: chemistry, more particularly isolation of humic substances in the form of acids or salts thereof from natural humidified material. SUBSTANCE: humidified material, e. g. peat, is treated with alkaline solution under normal conditions in the presence of urea and complexone. Alkaline solution comprises alkali, urea and complexone, weight ratios being as follows: 1.0: 1.0-5.0: 0.1: 2.5. Complexone is ethylene-diamine tetracetic acid. Method makes it possible to increase yield of humic substances which are useful in various industries. EFFECT: improved processibility of process, greater concentration of sulfuric acid and high degree of recovery of titanium into solution. 3 cl, 5 ex
