FIELD: electrical engineering; manufacture of high-precision and high- speed ac voltage regulators. SUBSTANCE: method involves increasing or decreasing output voltage using step-by-step variation of control- element transfer ratio; to this end output voltage is measured during each measurement cycle and compared with two reference voltages, first or second error signal is shaped in case output voltage exceeds higher reference voltage or is below lower reference value, respectively, check is made for each error signal, output voltage is reduced or raised in response to first or second error signal, respectively, thereby step-by-step approaching desired transfer ratio of control element; input voltage is measured during each measurement cycle and its measurement results are used to find coarse component of control-element transfer ratio whose fine value is determined by mentioned step-by-step approach. Device implementing proposed method has input terminal leads; transformer- switch control element inserted between input and output terminal leads; reversing counter whose forward and reverse count inputs are connected to outputs of first and second comparators, respectively, inputs of the latter being interconnected and connected to output of measuring element whose input is connected to output terminal lead; decoder whose outputs are connected to control inputs of transformer-switch control element and inputs of first group of decoder inputs are connected to respective outputs of reversing counter; analog-to-digital converter whose inputs are connected to input terminal leads of regulator and outputs, to respective inputs of second group of decoder inputs.
