FIELD: working in lathes articles with complex geometry of outer profile, for example non-round turning of skirts of pistons of internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: profiling device includes three-dimensional follower mounted with possibility of rotation by means of spindle of lathe simultaneously with piston blank; profiling lever with axle for rotating relative to working table; secured to lever profiling probe; cutter arranged between probe and rotation axle and spring for forcing probe to surface of follower, said spring is arranged between profiling lever and working table moved by means of rest and carriage of lathe. Mandrel is mounted in spindle of lathe. Said mandrel has clamp for coaxial cantilever mounting of blank inside it with the aid of hole for piston pin. Follower is in the form of sleeve stationary secured to mandrel. Follower and blank are arranged one near another along axis of spindle and they are set in predetermined angular position due to respective orientation of parts of mounting sleeve and clamp on mandrel. Working ends of profiling probe and cutter are oriented towards spindle axis. EFFECT: simplified design, rapid low-cost mounting of blank, enhanced quality of blank turning. 2 dwg
