FITTING OF LATHE FOR TURNING BLANKS OF PISTONS OF INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINES Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

FIELD: turning articles with complex geometry of outer profile, namely blanks of pistons of internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: fitting includes attachment with tools for round turning of circular surfaces and for non-round turning of outer surface of rotated piston blank. Said attachment is mounted with possibility of motion by means of carriage and lathe rest relative to spindle axis of headstock. Fitting also includes attachment with tools for boring hole for piston pin of non-rotated piston blank and device for fixing piston blank for its common rotation together with headstock spindle and tailstock center. Attachment with tools for round and non-round turning includes mandrel mounted in spindle of lathe headstock and working table secured to rest and designed for mounting tools for round and non-round turning of blank. Said mandrel has inner clamp for coaxial cantilever-type mounting of piston blank and outer three-dimensional contour follower for round turning of outer surface of blank. Attachment for boring hole for piston pin includes second mandrel supporting tools such as boring cutters and passing through hole for piston pin in such a way that it may be forced by center of tailstock and second working table mounted on rest for placing piston blank and clamps for fixing at least one piston blank.
