FIELD: manufacture of playing grounds. SUBSTANCE: method involves forming carpet covering having base cloth 14 composed of separate standing "grass stalks 12" manufactured of plastic material; laying resilient shock-absorbing substrate; sand- blasting upper parts 11 of "stalks" with flow of sand-like particles 20. During sand-blasting process, standing "stalks" are supported by resilient substrate 18 so that force applied by sand-blasting flow is absorbed by resilient substrate 18 to prevent "stalks" from being destructed, deformed or pressed to base sheet. Sand-blasting enables upper ends of threads forming "stalks" of synthetic covering to be separated one from another and at the same time to be united into dense playing surface. Such covering has the appearance of natural field, possesses playing characteristics thereof and may be used for playing golf, tennis etc. EFFECT: simplified method and wider range of usage. 10 cl, 6 dwg
