SUBSTANCE: invention describes novel benzimidazolium bis-quaternary salts of the formula (I) where B is H, CH₃, R-alkyl; B is H, CH₃, Cl, OCH₃; m = 1-5; n = 0-2; X is a residue of indicated formula where Y is NH, O; B is H, Cl that can be used as antifogging stabilizing agent of silverhalogen photographic emulsions and method of sensitization of silverhalogen emulsions by its using. Compound (I) with use of carbocyanine dyes of anionic or cationic-anionic type and supersensitizing agent of the formula (1) ensure to enhance photosensitivity of photomaterials at decreased or permissible level of fog optical density. Supersensitizing agent of the formula (1) and benzimidazolium bis- quaternary salt of the formula (I) are added in the ratio 1:I = 1:(0.05-0.4).
