FIELD: communications engineering. SUBSTANCE: method suggests that system users detect service transitions between current service area and adjacent one and send request to lease direct-link channel in new service area in case signal level recorded for new service area exceeds desired threshold levels. Direct-link channel is saved in current service area until signal across new service area is brought to definite level and desired quality of channel is acknowledged using various well-known criteria. As a rule, transitions between service areas are found by level of pilot signal or page signals of respective service areas; mentioned pilot signal is used to determine relative level of signals coming from new service area. Pilot signal level used to compensate for impact of signal decay is detected and corrected when comparing signal levels. EFFECT: enhanced flexibility of changing over the channels in case of reduced resources. 38 cl, 14 dwg
