FIELD: heat engineering, applicable in any equipment for heating or cooling of liquid or gaseous media, as well as used as condensers and evaporators. SUBSTANCE: the plate heat exchanger has a body and a stack of corrugated plates with holes for feed and discharge of one heat- transfer agent interconnected in pairs over the peripheral edges and tightened by pressure plates, they make up the distribution and surge headers; the corrugations of the sister plates positioned at an angle to the frontal plane intersect and form ducts, part of the ducts having a minimum length are blanked off on the side of the inlet (to) or outlet (from) the header by continuous or discrete flanges with a width equal to 1-3 heights of the corrugation and a length making up 20 to 80 percent of the length of the perimeter of the respective header and preventing the feed of the heat-transfer agent to (from) the header; the other heat-transfer agent is fed to the body, and countercurrent flow of the heat-transfer agents occurs with two crossed-flow sections in the zone of the distribution and surge headers. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of heat exchanger due to reduced area of the crossed-flow section and uniform distribution of the heat-transfer agent over the heat-exchange surface at a simplified manufacturing process. 8 cl, 14 dwg
