FIELD: industrial organic synthesis. SUBSTANCE: alkylbenzenes are prepared via alkylation of benzene with alkylating agent in presence of aluminum chloride catalyst, said alkylating agent being monoolefins and alkylation process is carried out periodically for 10 to 40 min, while continuously supplying catalyst. Process temperature is raised adiabatically from 35-49 C to 50-70 C and reaction mixture is simultaneously subjected to controlled cooling with water.
