FIELD: petrochemical processes. SUBSTANCE: in a process of alkylation of toluene and monoalkyltoluenes with alpha-olefin C10 or C10-C14-fraction, toluene/monoalkyltoluenes mixture is preliminarily supplemented by tri- and polyalkyltoluenes, after which hydrocarbons are mixed with aluminum chloride in presence of hydrogen chloride at 60- 75 C to form homogenous solution. Process is conducted at molar ratios of toluene/ monoalkyltoluenes/ tri- and polyalkyltoluenes/alpha-olefins, respectively, (0.9-1.075): (0.56-0.61): (0.0090- 0.046): 1 and toluene/aluminum trichloride/HCl equal to 1:0.074: 0.067, mono-, tri-, and polyalkyltoluenes having C10 or C10-C14-alkyl groups.
