FIELD: chemical industry; sealing facilities. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to sealing facilities and it can be used for sealing rotating shafts of centrifugal pumps and other equipment with mixing devices. In proposed shaft seal containing packing ring arranged in holder socket and contacting with end face of hard ring forming friction pair with the latter, bottom and/or side wall of seat are made in form of variable rigidly members. Making of flexible flat ring plate with ring belt at high-pressure side in friction pair provides uniform wear in radius of friction pair, and provision of cuts on flexible flat ring plate and side wall of holder improves pliability of these members, thus equalizing contact pressure and wear in radius of contact. EFFECT: improved reliability and increased service life of seal within wide range of operating parameters. 5 cl, 7 dwg
