FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to sealing of rotors of pumps, compressors, chemical production apparatus, and other machines. Seal has sealing ring with closed chambers on friction surface positioned on shaft for rotation and motion in axial direction. Seal also has sealing ring fixed in body and provided with feeding channels supplied with cut-off medium. Closed chambers differ in at least one of geometrical parameters which characterizes sizes, radial and circular arrangement of closed chambers on friction surface, namely depth, width, circumferential length, positioning radius, and distance between chambers in circumferential direction. Seal has enhanced reliability and extended service life within wide range of operating mode parameters (rotational speed of rotor, sealed medium pressure, cut-off medium pressure) due to installation of sealing ring with closed chambers on shaft (on shaft bushing) for movement in axial direction and to optimization of arrangement of closed chambers of different geometrical parameters on friction surface of sealing ring. This results in enlarged static and dynamic carrying capacity of sealing ring. This results in enlarged static and dynamic carrying capacity of end cut-off seal and provides for adjustment of end clearance by changing of cut-off medium pressure. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency. 4 cl, 14 dwg
