FIELD: organic chemistry, chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the improved method of synthesis of alkoxyacetic acids or their salts that are used as surface-active substances, intermediate compounds for synthesis of pharmaceutical preparations and agents for protection of plants. Alkoxyacetic acids are synthesized by interaction of corresponding oxyethylene glycol esters of alcohols or phenols with oxygen- containing gas in an aqueousalkaline medium in the presence of palladium on carbon carrier as a heterogeneous catalyst in the mole ratio oxygen : parent ester = 0.01-1.1 at inlet in reactor, temperature 80-140 C and under pressure 1-10 ati. Process is carried our preferably in vertical tube reactor at feeding the parent reagents to upper of reactor and using air as a oxygen- containing gas. The proposed method ensures to increase the specific output from 0.0052- 0.0423 (prototype) to 0.043-0.433 mole/(g Pd x h). EFFECT: improved method of synthesis, increased yield. 6 cl, 1 dwg, 2 tbl
