FIELD: converter engineering; secondary power supplies; dc arc welding converters. SUBSTANCE: converter has bridge-forming power switches with input voltage source connected across two diagonally opposite terminals of bridge; connected to other two diagonally opposite terminals of bridge are series-interconnected capacitor, choke, and power transformer primary winding, its secondary winding being connected through rectifier and capacitive filter to output leads of converter; it also has inverse switches that function to short out power switches; one of common points of pair of inverse switches is connected to common point of power switches of respective half- bridge through additional polarity-reversal emf source. Additional emf source may be made in the form of additional transformer primary winding whose secondary winding is connected through auxiliary rectifier to output or input leads of converter.
