FIELD: constructions of horizontal band accumulators. SUBSTANCE: horizontal band accumulator includes loop-forming carriage moving in frame along path with changeable distance from fixed roller for guiding band. Carriage has at least one guiding roller at least for one band whose length is measured along loop of stored band and supporting carriages with supporting rollers. Accumulator also includes endlessly moving around guiding rollers flexible drive member joined with loop-forming carriage. Said member is guided due to engaging with drive wheel of each guiding carriage. Drive unit of supporting carriage is shifted from said flexible member. Construction of drive unit is significantly enhanced and simplified as in zone of motion path of supporting carriage along frame second flexible drive member is tensioned. Second flexible member is guided by means of lower drive wheel of each supporting carriage engaging with drive member. First drive wheel is kinematically joined with second drive wheel through transmission. EFFECT: increased useful life period, lowered costs of units, optimal passing of band on supporting rollers of supporting carriages. 7 cl, 5 dwg
