SINGLE-OPERATOR SET FOR DIFFUSION LAP-WELDING OF SHORT PIPES IN VACUUM Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

FIELD: mechanical engineering; welding facilities. SUBSTANCE: proposed set is designed for lap-welding of short pipes made of titanium-steel, zirconium-steel, etc. which cannot be practically welded by fusion. Reduction of time taken for heating and cooling of blank with resulting increased in set capacity and decreased energy consumption is provided by making a support to which blank is pressed by power rod in form of roller-type arrangement. Drive shaft is installed over heater in upper part of chamber coaxially to power rod. Drive of power rod is located under chamber and its working travel extends to upper end face of heater. Replaceable support for mounting and fastening of blank to be welded is secured on end of power rod. Heat screen which can be shifted sidewise is installed between roller-type arrangement and heater. Roller-type arrangement has several plugging rollers secured on ends of long bars whose axes are uniformly spaced over circumference relative to axis of rotation of roller-type arrangement. Heater is installed over bottom of vacuum chamber at height exceeding height of blank to be welded. EFFECT: increased capacity of welding set. 7 cl, 3 dwg
