FIELD: carbon materials. SUBSTANCE: diamond-carbon substance intended for preparing modifying additives for lubricants, composite galvanic coatings, polishing pastes, and diamond tools is composed of 89-93% carbon, up to 1.5% silicon and metal particles, the rest being hydrogen, oxygen, and nitrogen. 96.0-99.6% of carbon is present in diamond from. Specific surface of the powder lies between 400 and 500 sq.m/g. Substance is prepared by detonation of an explosive with oxygen balance in closed space formed by water envelope. Detonation product is consecutively treated in hot solutions of alkali, hydrochloric and nitric acids, after which washed in perchloric. Powder has light gray color, shows elevated reactivity, decreases coefficient of friction when used in lubricants, and ensures high cleanliness of surfaces treated by polishing pastes.
