FIELD: chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: method includes introduction of 302.6 kg of fluid after the second stage of slime treatment into 117.8 kg of aqueous suspension of slime after water leaching of barium sulfide; supply of gas containing CO2. Treatment is carried out in reactor with continuous agitation at 95-104 C to obtain pH 7.5-8. Produced suspension is separated. Solution of BaCl2 is processed into crystalline product. Slime is directed for the second stage of treatment with distilled fluid (waste of soda ash production) at 40-60 C for 40-60 min. Obtained suspension is separated. Slime is directed for rendering it harmless. Solution is directed for treatment of slime aqueous suspension at the first stage. Recovery degree BaCl2 is 83.6-93.7%.
