SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of conversion of heavy aromatic hydrocarbon to more light compounds, for example, benzene by contact of C9-fraction + aromatic hydrocarbons and toluene over the first catalyst containing zeolite with permeability index in the range from 0.5 to 3 and a hydrogenization component and then over the second catalytical composition containing zeolite with mean pores size having permeability index in the range from 3 to 12, in the ratio of silicon dioxide to aluminum oxide at least 5.
