FIELD: industrial organic synthesis. SUBSTANCE: invention provides single-stage process for production of isoprene from (i) formaldehyde and trimethylcarbinol or (ii) compound forming formaldehyde under hydrolysis, e.g. of 4,4-dimethyl-1,3-dioxane, and large excess of trimethylcarbinol in presence of acid catalyst. Reactants are fed into still of reaction-distillation column, from the top of which isoprene and isobutylene are distilled off at specified reflux-to-product ratio. Still is operated at temperature 130-170 C and pressure by 20-30% superior to water steam pressure at the same temperature. Conversion of trimethylcarbinol varies between 20 and 60%. EFFECT: simplified technology and increased selectivity of process. 4 cl, 2 tbl, 9 ex
