TECHNOLOGY OF DETECTION OF LIGHT TRANSPARENT OBJECTS IN ROCK Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

FIELD: separation of light-transparent and non-transparent objects, specifically, separation of diamonds, precious and semi-precious minerals from accompanying rock. SUBSTANCE: substances of organic and inorganic origin, natural and synthetic crystals and glass are meant under notion objects . According to technology mineral is irradiated by light beam which section on surface of object is less than section of object. Optical system transfers image of shining object to image plane. Foucault " blade " shuts off image of light spot in image plane which is reflected diffusely and optically from surface of object. Image of light source formed thanks to light scattering by inhomogeneities inside object and by its surfaces is isolated in this case from light flux. Image of volumetric light source is converted with the use of photodetector to electric signal which is compared with established threshold value.
