FIELD: application of polymeric coatings. SUBSTANCE: claimed method for protection of the surface of large-sized metalworks by polymeric material by injection moulding consists in placement of the metalwork in a mould, feeding of plasticized polymeric material into it up to the complete filling of the gaps between the metalwork and the mould and removal of it from the mould. Prior to feeding of plasticized polymeric material through the flow gates to the mould, the latter is sealed and heated to a temperature corresponding to the phase of viscosity of the polymeric material. The polymeric material is fee at a pressure of 1.0 to 1.2 MPa up to the pressure is increased up to 2.0 to 2.2 MPa and the material is cured at this pressure for 5 to 15 minutes. Then, the mould temperature is reduced to the ambient temperature at a rate of 5 to 15 C per minute. The gap between the mould and the metalwork is selected in accordance with the preset thickness of the coating. EFFECT: enhanced service life and reliability of large-sized metalworks working in the conditions of corrosive atmosphere, provided uniformity of their coating. 2 cl
