FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to metal and alloy protection against electrochemical corrosion in humid air environment within wide ambient temperature range. Protection method involves zeolite pellet saturation with volatile corrosion inhibitor and placement of items and zeolite pellets into sealed container. Pellets of porous synthetic zeolite X or Y in sodium form with 0.8 nm effective diametre of pore entrances, dehydrated by calcination in air at 550°C for 6 hours and air evacuation in 10-3 Pa vacuum for 2 hours, are used as pellets saturated with volatile corrosion inhibitor. Volatile corrosion inhibitor with molecule size not exceeding diametre of pore entrances in zeolite pellets is used as inhibitor.
EFFECT: elimination of electrochemical corrosion causes, optimised consumption of volatile corrosion inhibitor due to maintenance of required inhibitor concentration in gas phase by self-adjustable inhibitor desorption from carrier pores.
