FIELD: medicine, neurosurgery. SUBSTANCE: lateral tumor section is opened and its surface is treated with a defocused beam of Ni-YAG-laser at 55-60 W power and 3- 4 mm diameter for 4-5 min. Penetrated tumor tissue is removed with an ultrasound aspirator. For total tumor removal it should be conducted about 9-10 to 16-18 manipulations of beam treatment with Ni-YAG-laser to remove penetrated tumor depending upon its size. In medial tumor departments Ni-YAG-laser is used only for point-to-point vascular coagulation to exclude thermal impact upon the brain stem. The method enables to decrease traumaticity of encephalon and intraoperational blood loss in patients with giant extracerebral basal dense encephalic meningiomas of abundant vascularization in case of their surgical removal. EFFECT: improved clinical results. 2 cl, 2 dwg
