FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention belongs to neurosurgery field and can be used for improving clinical results of treatment of patients with meningiomas of encephalon, growing into orbital cavity and canal of optic nerve. They operate on osteal mass of canal roof of optic nerve all along its length, from place of vent of nerve from orbit to entry of optic nerve into cavity of scull by ray of Nd-YAG laser with power of 10-15 Watt. Operation is performed in time of 1-1.5 minutes till charring of bones. Then they remove charring bone remains of canal roof by neurosurgical curette, revealing optic nerve. Application of laser for dissection of optic nerve allows to avoid trauma of optic nerve, significantly easing and speeding up phase of dissection of canal of optic nerve and totally remove tumor, keeping vision of this eye in the former state.
EFFECT: possibility of removing eye tumor without trauma of optic nerve.
