FIELD: water treatment. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for treating water of surface sources with predominance of mineral suspension therein. Invention is distinguished by that, in addition to cationic flocculant in essentially long (500 to 60000 m) pipeline used for mixing reagents with water and aggregating suspended substances, chlorine-containing reagent is added in dose 2-10 mg Cl per 1 cu.dm. Chlorine-containing reagent is too added either before or simultaneously with flocculant in downstream direction. EFFECT: optimized aggregation of suspended particles and improved further precipitation of suspension by way of oxidation of organic and human corps, and maintained good sanitary condition of pipeline. 2 cl, 2 tbl
