FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves carrying out two or three sclera incisions 0.7-0.8 times as deep as its thickness in the supero- or inferoexterior quadrant of the eyeball in parallel to the eyeball equator and of 2-3 mm in width. Sclera is separated. Provisional sutures are put in over the incisions. Subtotal vitrectomy is carried out according to standard method. Then, the provisional sutures on sclera are tightened. Gas-liquid exchange is carried out. Collagen sponge impregnated with autogenous blood serum is introduced to the macular rupture area with retinal forceps. Scleral pierces are sutured with interrupted sutures. Continuous suture is put in over the conjunctiva. Dexazone and antibiotic solutions are subconjunctivally administered. EFFECT: improved vision function; reliable locking of macular rupture.
