FIELD: dyestuffs and cosmetics. SUBSTANCE: invention, in particular, relates to nitrophemylenediamine dyes suitable for dyeing human hair. cationic monobenzene nitrophemylenediamines contain at least one cationic group Z selected from quaternized unsaturated nitrogen-containing cyclic groups and quaternized aliphatic groups, provided that, when alkyl chain contains ketone group, the latter is not directly linked with amino group nitrogen or with oxygen atom of group OR7 in benzene ring (see in description). EFFECT: increased solubility of dyes in dyeing media and improved coloration compared to that provided by known cationic nitrophemylenediamines whose cationic charge is localized on nitrogen atom of aliphatic chain or of heterocycle bearing single nitrogen atom. 16 cl, 14 ex _
