FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: proposed exhaust muffler has housing with coaxial inlet and outlet branch pipes. Internal longitudinal perforated pipe is installed coaxially in housing. Pipe is provided with cross perforated partitions dividing housing into expansion chambers. Space between muffle housing and inner perforated pipe is filled with noise-absorbing material, for instance, basic fiber. Arrangement of perforation holes is set by mathematical dependences to provide equality of perforation coefficient over entire perforated surface. Moreover, diameters of holes in partitions and their number are relative by mathematical dependences taking into account relative position of partitions. EFFECT: reduced exhaust noises at low backpressure created by muffler. 32 cl, 2 dwg
