FIELD: agriculture. SUBSTANCE: method involves calculating moment of deflection depending on weight of plant head; calculating plant stem lodging resistance while taking into account modulus of elasticity during flexure testing and on the basis of dependence of moment of deflection on coefficient of plant rooting in soil determined from formula: , where h is length of plant head; k=d(h)/D(h) approximating 0.5; D(h) is outer diameter of plant head stem; d(h) is inner diameter of plant head stem; W is weight of plant head substantially depending on weight of grain; E is modulus of elasticity of stem tissue.
