FIELD: agriculture, in particular, selection. SUBSTANCE: method involves selecting and sowing stem decay hybrids on plots, which are divided into central and peripheral plot portions; determining plant productivity on plot portions; selecting hybrids having weight of grains harvested from central plot portion less than weight of grains harvested from peripheral portions by no more than 10-20% and considering such hybrids as drought and stem decay resistant hybrids. Weight of grain of advanced hybrids from central plot portion must exceed weight of grain of standard plant. Method allows hybrids with stable manifestation of feature for repeated testing of most advanced sorts to be separated. Such hybrids may be delivered to state seed distributing authorities. EFFECT: simplified method and increased efficiency. 2 tbl, 1 ex
